So, how would everyone describe FELIX? Flashy, Confident, Cheeky, Rapper, Cool....
And OLLIE? Oh that's easy...NICE!
When Patrick asks the class to describe people's characters it becomes apparent that their perceptions of one another are not quite what they expected!
With a class performance of Rapunzel just around the stage door, each classmate gets ready to pigeonhole themselves in the roles they think they ought to be.
So, that would make Calvin the Prince then, Natalie the damsel in distress, Khush the witch, Felix the father, Amy the mother and reliable Ollie – The Narrator – right? WRONG!
After reading one of Toone's poster quotes 'Do what you want to do, be who you want to be' Ollie takes the bull by the horns, decides to be director and tells Patrick to take a well deserved fishing trip...
Talk about change of attitude! Ollie's new title has seriously gone to his head and before you can say 'break a leg' he's ruffled most people's feathers, changed a few ideas and re-shuffled the entire cast!
PRESENTING the new improved cast of Rapunzel:
We have Aaron as the Dad, Amy as Rapunzel, Calvin as Narrator, Felix as the Prince, Khush as the mother and Natalie (yes we said Natalie) as the witch (which went down really well as you can imagine)
There's no point in arguing it out, the director's had the final word and there's no time like the present to get rehearsals under way!
And so, a few dramatic hours later, Amy and Felix are flirting outrageously...because they have to for the play of course?! Natalie struggles with her 'interesting' new look as the mean old witch and Calvin is...nowhere to be seen!
In fact we'd go so far as to say he's locked himself in his room!
When Ollie finally breaks into Calvin's room we see why our narrator is so keen to hide from the crowd – he has to wear some seriously bad bi-focal glasses to learn his lines!!!
But, with a little persuasion from his director, he's persuaded to face his public in his specs and after a huge team effort the play is a success...which is more than can be said for Patrick's fishing trip!
He'd have done better to catch sleep than what he actually came back with!
And so, all's well that ends well at Avalon Heights this week. Every student proved that they have the talent to play more than one part....
And as for Patrick, the moral of his story – frankly you should stick to teaching mate!
