When Amy, Felix, Ollie, Natalie and Khush receive their golden DVD’s inviting them to become students at Avalon Heights they think their dreams have come true but as personalities clash, nerves set in and cross wires come into play the boat is quickly rocked!
The new recruits are dropped off outside the gates of Avalon Heights, wondering what adventures are in store and Natalie (the snob of the group and wanna be IT Girl) get’s Amy (feisty, American, sassy chic) riled up within the first five minutes of meeting one another. Why? Because she’s incredibly unimpressed with the transport laid on for them…a bus! She was rather hoping for a limo (do people not know she’s the 17th best female tennis player in Britain for goodness sake!)
Before she has too long to stew over her steam, whacky, eccentric head of the school Professor Toone meets them at the gates and wastes no time in taking them on an all singing, all dancing, explosively colourful tour of the school to make sure they know exactly what they’re about to experience!
What a place – what a high they’re all on….until they’re shown to their bedrooms that is.
Natalie decides she’s too posh for bunk beds and refuses to entertain the idea of top bunk so Amy and Khush are left to draw the short straw to decide who’ll be lumbered with the ladder!
[can anyone see a pattern emerging yet?]
Meanwhile, over in the boys room, Ollie and Felix do their male bonding bit and admit to one another they’re absolutely terrified of what’s in store for them but with lessons quick to commence, there’s no time for fear and soon we see why they’ve all been invited to Avalon Heights in the first place.
Ollie excel in English, Khush does her thing on the dance floor and Amy glides her way over the piano keys much to the delight of Toone.
Rather a good start to the term we’d say, but wobbles and insecurities are just around the corner….
Khush and Ollie take a stroll round the school and overhear English teacher Patrick and Professor Toone talking about ‘weeding out the weak ones and getting rid of them by tomorrow!’. They knew things were too good to be true…was the fun over before it had even begun? They had to tell the others...
Amy hopes Natalie’s asked to leave, Ollie’s sure he’s out because of his disastrous dance moves, Felix starts to sleep talk about his fears, and by the time morning arises the Fresher 5 are making their way to the exit, suitcases packed in preparation for bad news!
As they arrive at the gates Professor Toone is waiting there for them. Is he there to say goodbye? NO, he’s there to remind them that they’re all there for a reason!
‘But what about weeding out the weak ones?’ we hear you cry
That was just Patrick and Toone talking about this seasons baby tomatoes they’re trying to grow!
PHEW! A heavy sigh of relief from the all five students and before there’s time for reflection on mistakes a bus load arrives with 8 new recruits.
ENTER Frankie, Daisy, Jay, Calvin, Stacey, Aaron, Hannah and Rochelle.
Smiles all round and they all live happily ever after…..
….NOT!
Amy starts apologising to Natalie for character prejudgement until she soon discovers her gut instincts served her correctly.
Natalie had NO INTENTION of leaving Avalon Heights like the other 4. Her clothes were still in the wardrobe where she’d left them and the case she was holding for the exit walk was empty all along!
A scowl from Amy brings a smile to Toone’s face.
Head strong, talented, fiery young students – yep, it’s going to be an exciting summer at Avalon Heights!
